With over twelve years’ experience in the mental health, and as certified MBSR & Yoga Teacher, Brandi has a deep understanding and compassion for human suffering. Over the past seven years, Brandi has had extensive training in both movement and mindfulness meditation practices, which she believes it at the heart of healing individually and healing together.

 

CLASSES

Mindfulness & Meditation Weekly Drop In Class:
Join Brandi and a community of like minded individuals in this weekly drop in mindfulness meditation class. This class is designed for all levels and includes instructions on the practice, guided meditation and discussion time. Explore the power of presence and stillness.
 
Mondays from 6:00-7:00 PM 
Cost: $45 for 4 weeks or $15 for drop-in. Payment can be made in cash or Etransfer to brandi@findingstillnessinmovement.com 
MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION COURSE: 
Founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979, the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is an evidence based secular (nonreligious) intensive mindfulness meditation training program. The primary aim of the MBSR program is to support new ways of learning and being far beyond the completion of the program, and into the rest of one’s life. Since the beginning, MBSR has been at the forefront of scientific research revealing time and time again that those who practice in mindfulness based practices experience improvements in;
Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, Sleep, Immune System Functioning, Weight Management, Concentration, Communication, Relationships, and
overall enduring health and well-being.​
Meditation, mindful movement and self-reflection is at the heart of the MBSR course, and so it is strongly encourage that you are willing to explore these practices both in and out of class time in order to experience the greatest benefits from the practice. Each week the practice and course work deepens which allows for a slow integration of mindfulness into daily life.
 
This 9 week, 10 session, participatory course includes:
Intense practice in mind-body awareness through guided meditation, mindful movement and self reflection in and out of class time
  • Group dialogue, dyads, and discussions aimed at enhancing the teachings, the practice, and overall awareness
  • Various introspective activities practiced both in and out of class time to aid in integration of mindfulness into everyday life
  • Strong emphasis on developing own consistent daily practice throughout the course and beyond

MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION GRADUATED COURSE:
 
Mindfulness is a skill and requires ongoing dedication and practice. If you have taken an 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course in the past and noticed that your practice has begun to slip and/or that you have hit a plateau in your practice and would like the deepen the skills you learned throughout MBSR, than this graduated course is for you!
Similar to the structure of MBSR, this graduated course is designed to deepen the skills that come out of exploring one’s own internal state and the experiences of the other participants, through various meditative and contemplative activities, in and out of each session.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Completion of an 8 week MBSR course, taught by a qualified MBSR teacher through UMASS, Medical School, Centre for Mindfulness, with attendance for at least 6/8 sessions + completion of the full day session.
  • Feel comfortable in practicing non-guided (silent) meditations.
  • New to Brandi as a teacher? It is important to check her out and get a feel for who she is a teacher and practitioner. Perhaps, attend one of her weekly drop in classes.  Can’t make it to a class? Arrange a phone conversation prior to applying for the course.
Course Objectives:
Re-establishing or fine tuning;
  • the relationship with the body and how it relates to the nature of mind.
  • the relationship with the mind and how it relates to the nature of suffering.
  • the skill of self-reflection and contemplation and how it relates to living a more meaningful life.
Deepening one’s own understanding of;
  • habitual patterns that keep one stuck in the wheel of suffering.
  • of how to become ‘unstuck’ in the moment.
  • of the qualities of mindfulness and how they support a deeper sense of well-being despite the trials and tribulations of life.

1/2 Day Silent Retreats

Experience the nourishment that comes from prolonged silence and stillness in this half day mindfulness and meditation retreat. This retreat will consist of various guided meditative/contemplative practices including; walking, seated/lying down, and metta (loving-kindness) and time for self-reflection at the end of noble silence. Various props (including chairs) are available for use.
