Meet our Newest Student Intern

It is such a pleasure to have Andrew join our team.  His tender spirit and presence of curiosity make him a great addition to our team.  Andrew works from a systemic perspective and has experience in working with all people in the family system, including; couples, children, teens and individual adults.  We love having students as a part of our team because their keen nature keeps us on our toes continuing to learn and grow as they bring in the newest theories and ideas, and because we love to offer affordable counselling to the public at $40.00/hr.  Read more about Andrew below.

"My journey to become a therapist began far before I even realized it. I’ve always been sensitive to others emotions, soft spoken, and tend to prefer listening rather than speaking. For a long time, I thought of these as weaknesses. However, I have come to embrace those traits as strengths in assisting me to facilitate space for others to also grow and embrace who they are.

It takes a lot of courage to come to therapy and my desire is to honour that courage in each of my clients. I believe that we all have personal strengths and resiliency that can help us achieve change in our lives. At times we can become stuck and lose track of those resources. I believe the counselling relationship can be a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to rediscover those resources. Beyond your specific goals in therapy, my hope is that you will also discover greater congruence, self-esteem, and the capacity to make healthier choices.

I began my studies with an BA in Counselling & Caregiving and am currently completing my final year of my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I work from a systemic perspective and primarily draw from Narrative and Experiential (Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy & Emotionally Focused Therapy) modalities.

I consider it an honour to work alongside adults, children, couples, and families as they work towards a place of greater self-acceptance and wholeness."
